Update to Upgrade

Problem: A large millworks owned an older model planer that was no longer serviced by its manufacturer. The company knew they needed to upgrade, but liked the simplicity of the machine’s design. 

Smith Machine Worx Solution: The planer was rebuilt to be functionally new and re-engineered to add new capabilities for their application. Manual and mechanical elements of the machine were replaced and augmented with electronic inservo and PLC controls. The rebuilt machine is now safer, more efficient and productive, does the work of multiple machines and reduces the need for personnel interaction. The rebuild cost was significantly less than the purchase of several new machines.
