A Notcher Gets Up to Speed
Problem: A pallet manufacturer requires three different sized and notched boards to assemble a pallet. The original workflow consisted of saws operating at 500ft/min followed by infeed delivery to a notcher operating at 150ft/min. The notcher periodically required a forklift to move finished stacks away to continue production.
Smith Machine Worx Solution: A new notcher was designed to operate at the same speed as the saws and included a new outfeed/stacker to move materials away from the notcher as it completes a stack. The new design eliminates extra handling, removes forklift/personnel involvement and maximizes efficiency and output.
